Mourners Pay Final Tribute
Mourners laid flowers and stood in silence on Thursday at the grave of Russian siblings Diana and Roman Nazimov, whose bodies were found buried in woodland near Pattaya.
Footage shows relatives and members of the local community placing flowers at the burial site in Chon Buri province. The children’s mother is seen praying over the grave, before Buddhist monks chanted as mourners, police officers and members of Pattaya’s Russian community joined hands in tribute.
Diana, 22, and her 17-year-old brother Roman vanished after leaving their rented home on a motorcycle in the early hours of July 26.
Missing Siblings Found Buried
Shortly before contact was lost, Diana reportedly messaged her mother to say her phone had detected an unknown Bluetooth tracker moving with them. She said she felt unsafe and sent a final plea for help at around 04:26, before both siblings’ phones went offline.
Days into the search, police found their rented motorcycle dismantled and buried on cemetery grounds in Bang Lamung district.
Thai police arrested two men near the Cambodian border in Sa Kaeo province on July 31. Investigators said the suspects then led officers to a wooded area in Huai Yai, where Diana and Roman had been buried beneath around one metre of earth.
Police Investigate Shocking Case
The bodies of three members of a missing Thai family were also reportedly found in a nearby grave.
Police said the suspects gave differing accounts of the killings. According to investigators, one suspect allegedly wore fake police clothing to stop the siblings before an attempted robbery turned violent.
Suspects Face Serious Charges
The authorities have suggested Roman was shot after resisting the pair, while Diana was assaulted and beaten to death. The suspects remain under investigation with statements being checked against CCTV, mobile phone data and forensic evidence.
