Tan Boon Chuan, 59, is facing a devastating cancer relapse. The tumor behind the eyes remains, pressing dangerously close to vital nerves and threatening vision.
On 15 June, a severe bacterial infection linked to chemotherapy caused a sudden health crisis. Emergency hospitalisation followed after serious pneumonia affected lung function.

There is an urgent financial need to keep life-saving cancer treatment going.
A Lifetime of Kindness and Hard Work
Chai Yin and Boon Chuan have shared 30 years of marriage. Boon Chuan had been in construction warehouses, and Chai Yin was a technician for decades. Life was simple, with very little money, but a close family bond and a daughter growing up in a loving home.

Boon Chuan, despite financial constraints, contributed $50 per month to help children in need. The monthly contribution was made quietly, without seeking recognition or praise.
A Long Battle Against Returning Cancer
Boon Chuan’s cancer journey began in 2013 after a bone cancer diagnosis. After difficult treatment, recovery brought hope that the illness had finally been overcome.
In January 2025, cancer returned and spread rapidly to the nose and area behind the eyes. Severe illness affected breathing and resulted in an Intensive Care Unit admission.

Further treatments followed, including painful throat injections and major surgery in July to remove the tumor from the nose.
Time Running Out to Save Vision
In December, doctors discovered further tumor growth behind the eyes. The tumor is now pressing against a nerve, causing worsening blurred vision.
Radiation therapy remains the only available option to control the tumor and protect remaining vision.
Support Needed for Treatment
More than $40,000 has already been spent on hospital stays, surgeries, and medications. Years of savings from warehouse and technician work have been exhausted.
Support, regardless of the amount, can have a tremendous impact on their healing. 100% of the money raised will be handled by Give.Asia and paid directly to the hospital.
