The Alleged Incident
A 38-week pregnant woman has accused staff at Lotus’s Malaysia in Selayang of humiliation after they allegedly mistook her baby bump for concealed stolen merchandise. According to the account shared by the woman and her husband, the incident occurred at the checkout counter after they had finished paying for their groceries.
A staff member reportedly stopped the couple and questioned the woman regarding what she was hiding in her stomach area. This accusation left the expectant mother feeling deeply embarrassed while standing in front of other store patrons.
The Search Demands
The problem deepened as employees insisted that the mother display her prenatal medical booklet and raise her top to confirm she was actually pregnant. The couple was then instructed to wait at the checkout area while the staff sought further verification.
The pair remained at the location for approximately twenty minutes while other shoppers were present. The staff member admitted they did not see the woman take anything, claiming they were just suspicious because of how her stomach looked. This forced wait made the couple feel very upset and anxious while they were in the middle of the store.
Supervisor Intervention
The couple asked for a supervisor to handle the complaint. Once the supervisor showed up, the husband asked why they were accused and searched in the first place. Once the husband challenged the employees over the situation, they offered an apology.
The couple proceeded to file a police report so that the incident would be officially documented and examined. They reached out to police officers to file a proper statement and see that the event receives a full investigation.

Word of this happening sparked heavy debate across social media sites, where many folks urged the couple to pursue court action. Online chatter has turned toward how the staff behaved and whether it was right for them to search a customer that way.
