The motorcyclist stopped in time from colliding with a horse-drawn carriage when it crossed a road in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The incident occurred on Monday, 29th June 2026, in the Tarok Dipo area of Guguk Panjang. Later a video of the accident was released, which circulated online, illustrating how fast things happen and how dangerously close a rider was to being run down.

The video depicts a car stopping in front of the crossing to allow the horse and carriage to cross safely. The horse gently made its way into the main road, towing the traditional carriage. Things seemed fine until a motorcyclist came towards the road sideways without seeing the car in front.
Crash Happens Suddenly
According to the video, the motorcyclist was traveling through a blind spot and could not see the horse-drawn carriage crossing the road. There was not enough time to apply the brakes after the carriage came into view.

The motorcycle crashed into the horse, and the rider lost control and fell under the carriage. The horse was also affected by the impact, which also caused it to lose balance.
Horse Keeps Balance
The horse managed to stand up even though it crashed, rather than fall on the rider. If it weren’t prevented, this would have been a much more serious accident.
What basically happened was the motorcyclist landed under the car and had the potential of being killed by the vehicle. The horse was still as the carriage came to a halt, though. The people around started to respond immediately as it happened.
No Serious Injuries Reported
Fortunately no one was seriously injured in the accident, nor was the horse. There were no serious injuries reported in the accident, although it was a terrifying moment for all involved.

The incident reminds everyone about the need to be aware of what is happening on the road, particularly when motorized traffic is still being used alongside the traditional form of horse-drawn transportation. At junctions or blind spots, drivers and riders may be able to see a small section of the road ahead, so they should be cautious and proceed with care, because they might not be able to see others coming.
