Baby Phuong Gia Khang entered the world facing a challenge no newborn should have to endure.
Born on 3 April 2026, he was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma in both eyes, a rare condition that causes dangerously high pressure inside the eyes. He also suffers from corneal opacity, putting his vision at serious risk.
Just seven days after birth, Gia Khang underwent surgery in Vietnam in an effort to save his eyesight.
His parents hoped the procedure would improve his condition and give him a chance at a normal childhood.

Urgent Treatment Needed
As Gia Khang’s condition remained severe, doctors in Vietnam informed the family that treatment options were limited.
Determined to find help for their son, his parents searched for specialists overseas and eventually travelled to Singapore for further medical assessment.
After examining Gia Khang, doctors warned that the pressure inside his eyes remained dangerously high.
Without urgent treatment, his eyesight could continue to deteriorate, potentially leading to permanent blindness.
Two Critical Procedures Recommended
Specialists in Singapore have recommended two procedures to help preserve Gia Khang’s vision.
The treatment plan includes a tube implant in one eye and laser treatment in the other eye.
According to the family, these procedures offer Gia Khang his best chance of retaining his sight and preventing further damage to his eyes.
S$85k Needed For Treatment And Follow-Up Care
The cost of Gia Khang’s treatment is substantial.
The surgeries are expected to cost approximately S$45,000. In addition, he will require ongoing specialist reviews, medications, examinations and follow-up care estimated at around S$40,000.
The total amount needed is approximately S$85,000.
For his parents, who are both office workers, the cost is far beyond what they can afford on their own.
Family Turns To Crowdfunding For Help
Gia Khang’s parents have already borrowed money from friends and relatives in their efforts to seek treatment for their son.
They are currently staying in Singapore while waiting for the surgeries that could help save his vision.
With medical expenses continuing to grow, the family has turned to crowdfunding in hopes of raising the funds needed for treatment.

His parents’ greatest wish is for him to one day see their faces, recognise the people who love him and experience the world around him.
Doctors have a treatment plan in place, but time is critical.
