Hidden Fortune Found

A Thai family was left stunned after finding 1.84 million baht (about US$50,000) in cash and a gold necklace hidden inside a toolbox while preparing for a funeral.

The money belonged to a 78-year-old farmer who died on June 16. As relatives cleaned and arranged the family home ahead of the funeral, they came across the toolbox and uncovered the surprise.

His wife and two sons had no idea he had hidden 1.84 million baht in cash and a gold necklace inside it. What started as funeral preparations quickly turned into a discovery that shocked the entire family.

Secret Kept For Years

Family members said the farmer lived simply and was always careful with money. He rarely spent on himself and preferred to save whatever he could.

Even though he lived with his family, he never talked about his finances. Nobody suspected he had managed to save so much money. The cash and gold necklace had reportedly stayed hidden inside the toolbox for years.

Money Will Help The Family

After counting the money, the family decided not to keep the cash at home. Instead, they plan to deposit it into a bank account where it can be kept safe.

The family said the money will help support the farmer’s widow and provide extra security for the future. Some of it may also be kept as part of the family’s inheritance. Relatives said they were proud of how much he had managed to save without anyone knowing.

A Final Farewell

The farmer was cremated at a local village temple on June 17, surrounded by family, friends and neighbours who gathered to pay their final respects.

Just a day earlier, his wife and two sons had uncovered a secret he had kept for years. They never knew about the 1.84 million baht in cash and gold necklace hidden inside the toolbox.

As they said their final goodbye, they were left with more than memories. The savings he quietly built over a lifetime will now help support the family he worked so hard to provide for. For his wife and two sons, it was a final gift they never expected.
