Singapore football legend Sasikumar Ramu has shared a proud father-son moment after his eldest son, Kyen Sasikumar, scored his 50th goal for Atlético Madrid’s youth academy.
In an Instagram post on May 17, Sasikumar reflected on the family’s journey since relocating to Spain four years ago and praised his son’s perseverance through difficult periods.

“A special moment today,” he wrote.
“Kyen scored his 50th goal in an Atlético Madrid shirt.”
The former Singapore international added that while the family had arrived in Spain with dreams, they never imagined they would be celebrating such a milestone.
A Journey Marked by Persistence
Sasikumar revealed that Kyen’s path had not always been straightforward.
According to the football veteran, the teenager faced challenges and setbacks while trying to establish himself in one of Europe’s most competitive youth football environments.
“He has had to fight through difficult moments, keep going when things did not come naturally, and find his own path while his brother enjoyed more success in recent seasons,” Sasikumar wrote.

The proud father said that made the achievement even more meaningful.
“If you keep your head down, work hard, stay focused, and believe, things can change.”
He also credited the faith shown by Kyen’s coaches during the current season.
“The belief his coaches have shown in him this season has made a real difference, and we are grateful for that.”
50 Goals in 83 Matches
Kyen, who was born on Feb. 3, 2011, is currently part of Atlético Madrid’s Under-15 setup.
Listed as an attacker capable of playing as a striker or winger, the Singaporean youngster has scored 50 goals in 83 matches across four seasons with the Spanish club’s academy.
His goal tally includes:
- 9 goals in 12 matches for Atlético Madrid Under-12 (2022/23)
- 9 goals in 21 matches for Atlético Madrid Under-13 (2023/24)
- 13 goals in 22 matches for Atlético Madrid Under-14 (2024/25)
- 19 goals in 28 matches for Atlético Madrid Under-15 (2025/26)
The current season has been his most productive yet, with 19 goals.

Standing at 1.85m tall and weighing 60kg, Kyen is described as a both-footed attacker. His performance statistics for the season reportedly include a top speed of 29.9km/h and a highest distance covered of 10km in a match.
Following His Football Dream in Spain
Kyen previously attracted media attention after joining Atlético Madrid’s youth academy alongside his younger brother, Tylan.
The brothers moved to Spain with their family as they pursued opportunities in European football, a journey that has been closely followed by many Singapore football fans.
For Sasikumar, however, the latest milestone is about more than just numbers.
Sharing a photo of Kyen’s achievement, he ended his message with a simple note of encouragement:
“Well done, my son. Proud of you.”
“This is only the beginning. We keep going.”
