She Deserves Playgrounds Not Hospital Beds: Raise S$993K For Three-Year-Old Patient

A three-year-old girl named Darlene is fighting a brave battle against a severe form of blood cancer. She is currently staying at the National University Hospital in Singapore for specialist medical care. Darlene has relapsed leukaemia, which means the dangerous disease has returned for a second time.

Her family is now working very hard with local community members to raise funds for a second bone marrow transplant. Medical experts say this important procedure is the best way to save her life. However, time is running out quickly for the young patient, and the treatment cannot start without enough financial support.

A Difficult Medical Battle

Darlene was first diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia when she was just a toddler. She went through difficult hospital treatments and showed great strength. For a short time, her family believed the cancer was completely gone. They were happy to celebrate her third birthday together at home.

Sadly, recent medical tests showed that the cancer cells returned. Doctors explained that Darlene needs a second bone marrow transplant as soon as possible to stop the disease. The total cost for this advanced treatment and hospital care is estimated to be around S$993,000 (SGD 993,000).

Community Rallies to Give Hope

Because the medical costs are very high, a community campaign was started on the crowdfunding platform Give.Asia. Many kind donors from Singapore and other countries have already given money to help the family. So far, the public has raised over S$780,000 (SGD 780,000) to support her hospital bills.

The hospital needs the next portion of the funds before the medical team can safely begin the complex transplant procedure. All the donations go directly to the hospital to pay for Darlene’s medicine and care.

Darlene’s parents are very thankful for the kindness of the public and the excellent care from the Singapore medical staff. Every small donation or shared story brings the family closer to their goal. They hope that with the help of the community, Darlene will get a chance to grow up healthy and strong.
