When Cathay Cineplex closed its doors at Downtown East, movie lovers in Pasir Ris were left without their beloved neighbourhood cinema. But the wait is finally over – Golden Village has swooped in to save the day, bringing the magic of movies back to the community.

It’s a lifeline for residents who have had to trek to other parts of Singapore for their movie fix. The eastern community can now enjoy blockbusters, indie films, and family favourites right in their own backyard once again.

“Golden Village Downtown East brings the magic of movies closer to residents in Pasir Ris!” the announcement was made on GV Movie Club’s Instagram page, along with details of special opening offers that have movie fans excited.

To celebrate the grand opening on November 27 and thank the community for their patience, Golden Village is rolling out attractive promotional offers.

From November 27 to January 30, 2026, moviegoers can enjoy special weekday rates – students pay just $7 and senior citizens only $5 for all-day screenings.
Even More Promotions
The opening week promises even more excitement with a daily giveaway of 100 free movie tickets.
The promotion runs throughout the first week of operations, with one free movie voucher available to customers who spend a minimum of $5 on food and beverage items at the cinema.

Located at #04-106 Downtown East, GV’s newest location marks the return of accessible cinema entertainment to Pasir Ris and surrounding neighbourhoods.
