Late-Night Dispute Escalates Over Damaged Side Mirror
Authorities detained two individuals after a confrontation on a Kuala Lumpur road turned threatening when one of them was believed to have aimed a fake firearm at another motorist.
The incident occurred around 11 pm on Tuesday, July 1, following a minor accident involving a vehicle’s side mirror.
A 28-year-old man was behind the wheel of a black Honda City when its right side mirror was hit by a red Toyota Yaris, according to Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood, NST reported.
Heated Argument Leads to Alleged Gun Threat
After the incident, a verbal exchange broke out between the two drivers.

During the altercation, the driver of the Toyota Yaris allegedly took out a black pistol and pointed it toward the other man.

The affected driver filed a police report at 12:55 am the next day, Wednesday, July 2.
Following the complaint, officers apprehended two suspects, aged 19 and 27, to assist in the ongoing inquiry.

The Pistol Was a Replica Ordered Through TikTok
Further investigation revealed that the firearm in question was not genuine, but rather a realistic-looking replica.
According to Ku Mashariman, one of the individuals admitted to purchasing the imitation gun via TikTok, FMT reported.
Police confirmed the weapon had been sourced online and posed no actual threat in terms of firepower.
Case Probed Under Firearm and Intimidation Laws
The suspects are currently being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which pertains to criminal intimidation, as well as Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960 for possessing an imitation firearm.
If found guilty, they may face up to seven years in jail, a fine, or both.
Both men have been remanded from July 2 to July 5 to assist police with their investigation.
Police Remind Public to Report Crimes
The police have encouraged the public to report any criminal activity or suspicious behaviour.
