Woman Killed After Motorbike Collides With Opened Car Door, Run Over by Lorry

A fatal collision took place at approximately 12:20 pm on Monday, June 16, close to the traffic light intersection at Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh in Kuala Lumpur.

A 55-year-old woman was killed after she and her son, who were on a motorcycle, collided with a car door that was suddenly opened. She was then run over by an oncoming lorry while lying on the road.

Door Opened Suddenly While Car Was Parked

The woman and her 20-year-old son were riding a motorcycle in the direction of Kepong when a Toyota Vios parked on the left shoulder of the road allegedly had its door opened without warning.

The motorcycle was unable to avoid the obstacle and crashed into the door.

Thrown Into Oncoming Traffic

The crash caused both riders to fall from the motorcycle. According to Malaysia Gazette, while the son fell onto the road near the crash site, the woman was thrown onto the right lane, where a moving lorry ran over her.

Rushed to Hospital, but Mother Didn’t Survive

Both were taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for emergency treatment. The 55-year-old woman suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead during treatment.

Kwong Wah reported that the victim’s 20-year-old son sustained light injuries to both his limbs.

Drivers Unharmed, Police Investigating

According to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zamzuri, the lorry driver, a 30-year-old man, was not injured.

Police are currently probing the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which deals with fatalities caused by reckless or dangerous driving.
