Daring Great Escape

This surprised many individuals when an elderly woman of 92 years of age defied all odds to climb a 7 ft gate in order to escape a nursing home in China. It occurred in Yantai, Shandong Province, on 4 July. The aged lady with Alzheimer’s disease left the old age care home independently.

Employees did not realize that she was absent initially. But later CCTV cameras demonstrated the exact moment when she climbed slowly over the high metal gate. In a video connection posted by the local media, she walked slowly with confidence as she ascended to the peak. Her actions soon made the nursing home escape in China a popular topic.

In the footage of the CCTV, the grandmother is evidently holding the gate firmly and lifting her body in steps. She did not rush. Instead, she descended on the opposite side and did not express any fear.

Her power and flexibility at 92 years of age shocked a number of viewers. The video went viral on the Internet, attracting attention to the safety in the elderly care centers. The Yantai nursing home escape case brought up issues on supervision, particularly among patients with memory diseases.

Search Operation Begins

When employees noticed that the woman was gone, they did not hesitate. The university made an appeal and formed a search team. Employees went out of the building with four cars and started searching their neighboring streets. They were afraid she may become lost due to her state of Alzheimer’s.

Approximately 25 minutes later, one of the staff members spotted her heading outside the facility but a short distance away. She did not indicate any injury and was looking safe. The staff kindly helped her back to the nursing home. The initiative saved the day, as the situation would have been worse.

Strong Past Life

The nursing home director subsequently gave the reason why the elderly woman may have not lost much of her climbing abilities. When she was young, she, he said, worked in the mountains and planted orchards there.

During her younger days, she used to climb trees and mountains frequently. Her prior physical fitness can explain the reason as to how she has been able to climb such a high gate at her age. The 92-year-old woman’s 7ft gate story is still discussed in all parts of China and particularly in Yantai, where many individuals are still surprised at the unforeseen strength and will of the woman.
