Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” is NOW SHOWING – and Singapore film lovers will have a chance to experience the movie differently from the rest of Southeast Asia.
Head to Shaw Theatres Lido and watch “The Odyssey” on 35mm film to get the real feel of what Nolan intended for his audiences – rich analogue colour projected directly through the celluloid, delivering the theatrical intimacy that only real film can provide.
Shaw Theatres is the only cinema in Southeast Asia screening “The Odyssey” on 35mm – and it represents the first 35mm screening at Shaw in over 13 years.
A Piece of Cinema History, Back Where It Belongs
This incredible experience was made possible by the restoration of two original 1993 Ushio U-Tech 35mm film projectors during Lido’s recent renovation. These projectors – over 30 years old – have been lovingly restored and fitted with DTS and SRD sound formats, and are now housed in the new Lido 1 and Lumiere Grand halls.

The last time a 35mm film was screened at Shaw Theatres was “Hyde Park on Hudson” back in March 2013. Thirteen years later, the format makes its triumphant return – and fittingly, with one of the biggest films of the year.
Mr. Christopher Shaw, Executive Vice President of Shaw Theatres, shared: “It is serendipitous that our first screening of 35mm film will be the blockbuster ‘The Odyssey’ which was shot entirely on film. Lido is the only place in Southeast Asia that will be showing ‘The Odyssey’ on real celluloid film! So do come see it. It is truly an experience you can only get in a movie theatre.”
