New cabin footage has given viewers a tense look inside a Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787-9 during a takeoff at Munich Airport, showing the aircraft reaching the end of the runway before becoming airborne.
The footage, which has been circulating online, captures the final moments of flight VN34 as it made an unusually long takeoff roll on Runway 26L. At around the 57-second mark, passengers can see and feel a noticeable jolt inside the cabin as the aircraft approaches the end of the paved runway.

The moment quickly caught attention because of how close the aircraft appeared to be to the runway’s end before lifting into the air. From inside the cabin, the sudden movement gives a clearer sense of just how dramatic those final seconds were compared with a routine takeoff.
Aircraft Became Airborne Beyond Runway End
The aircraft involved was Boeing 787-9 registered as VN-A867. According to the information accompanying the footage, the wide-body aircraft became airborne after passing beyond the paved end of Runway 26L.
During the incident, the aircraft reportedly suffered a tail strike. It also struck runway lights as it left the runway area before continuing its flight.A tail strike can happen when the rear section of an aircraft comes into contact with the runway during takeoff or landing. In this case, the incident occurred during the aircraft’s attempt to get airborne after the unusually long takeoff roll.
Flight Later Returned Safely To Munich
Despite the dramatic start to the flight, VN34 did not continue on a normal journey after the incident. The aircraft later returned safely to Munich, allowing the situation to end without further reported problems involving the flight itself.

The new footage provides a different perspective from videos or images recorded outside the aircraft. Rather than filming the plane from the ground, this cabin footage gives a passenger’s-eye view of those tense final seconds of the takeoff.
The clip is super short, so it doesn’t show the full story of the flight. But that noticeable jolt near the end of the runway definitely caught people’s attention online. You can also see just how quickly things changed, with the aircraft going from a long runway roll to finally lifting off.
Investigation Into What Happened
The exact reason for the unusually long takeoff roll remains under investigation. At this stage, the available footage alone does not establish why the aircraft required so much runway before becoming airborne.
Investigators are expected to examine the aircraft, runway conditions, operating data and other factors connected to the takeoff. Details from the aircraft’s systems and flight data may also help establish what happened during the final seconds on the ground.

For now, the cabin footage has added another piece to the developing picture of the VN34 incident. The short clip shows the moment passengers experienced a sharp jolt as the Boeing 787-9 neared the end of the runway, before the aircraft eventually got airborne and later returned safely to Munich.
For now, the exact cause is still unclear. More details will be needed before anyone can say for sure what happened during the takeoff.
