A man in Thailand died after reportedly drinking only beer for over a month, ignoring the food his teenage son had prepared for him each day.

On Wednesday, July 16, emergency responders from the Siam Rayong Foundation were called to a home in Ban Chang district, Rayong province, after receiving a report of a man experiencing seizures.

When they arrived, they found 44-year-old Thaweesak Namwongsa unconscious, with no pulse and bluish hands and feet.

Emergency Responders Found Over 100 Beer Bottles in His Room

Inside his room, responders discovered more than 100 empty beer bottles arranged neatly across the floor, surrounding the bed and furniture.

Son Came Home from School to a Tragic Scene

Thaweesak had been living with his 16-year-old son following a divorce with his wife.

That day, the teenager returned from school to find his father convulsing. He then ran to seek help from a neighbour, who tried to administer CPR before calling emergency services.

CPR efforts were unsuccessful, The Thaiger reported.

Beer Replaced Food for Over a Month

According to Workpoint News, Thaweesak had stopped eating food entirely, relying only on beer.

Additionally, his son stated that his father had been drinking only beer for over a month and had refused to eat any of the meals he cooked for his father.

Personal Stress Believed to Be the Cause

Rescue workers believed Thaweesak turned to heavy drinking due to personal stress, though the nature of his problems was not disclosed.

Ongoing Autopsy

An autopsy is currently underway to determine the exact cause of death, although excessive alcohol consumption is believed to be a contributing factor.

At this time, it remains unclear who will take over guardianship of Thaweesak’s son.
