A Dispute Over 225 Baht Turns Violent
A 20-year-old Thai delivery worker was slashed five times and left with 24 stitches after attempting to collect payment for a parcel worth 225 baht (approx. S$8.80).
The attack occurred at around 9 PM on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Amphawa District, Samut Songkhram province, central Thailand.
According to Thairath, the victim, Thanaphat, had earlier delivered the package to the house, but no one was home.
He then contacted the buyer, 27-year-old Pimonnart, who told him to leave the parcel at the house and promised to transfer the payment later. However, by night, the money had not been transferred to him.
Parcel Opened, Return Not Possible
Around 9 PM, Thanaphat called Pimonnart again to follow up with the payment. She then told him that she wanted to return the parcel, claiming dissatisfaction with the product.
Since the package had already been opened, Thanaphat informed her that a return was no longer possible. This led to an argument between the two.
Eventually, Pimonnart agreed to pay.
According to The Thaiger, as Thanaphat was handing her the change, her husband, Surasit, who is also 27, allegedly approached him aggressively before attacking him with a knife.

Victim Sustained Five Slash Wounds, Required 24 Stitches
The knife attack left Thanaphat with serious injuries: two cuts on his forehead, one on his left palm, one on his chest, and one on his left ear, totaling five wounds and reportedly requiring 24 stitches.

During the chaos, Pimonnart allegedly pushed his chest and kicked his leg, causing him to fall.

Following the assault, Thanaphat fled and sought treatment at a hospital before filing a police report the next day, Tuesday, May 14, 2025, at Amphawa Police Station.
Concerns About Local Power and Fairness
Fearing he might not receive fair treatment, Thanaphat contacted Thanathat Khunnuch, a senior advisor to the Regional Police Commissioner of Region 7, for help.

According to the senior advisor, the victim expressed concern that the suspects have family connections with local authorities, HoneKrasae reported.
Police Investigation Underway
The Amphawa Police Superintendent, Phitchayut Kosum, confirmed to reporters that officers have interviewed the victim, collected evidence, and seized the weapon and clothing worn during the incident.
Channel 7 reported that the injuries were assessed by medical personnel and determined not to be life-threatening.
Authorities initially attempted to mediate between the two parties, but Thanaphat declined to settle and chose to pursue legal action.
The suspects reportedly confessed to their actions, and police are now preparing to charge the couple under Section 295 of the Thai Criminal Code, which covers physical assault.
If convicted, they could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to 40,000 baht (approx. S$1,566.15), or both.
