New Statue Unveiled
Tehran installed a new statue – ‘We Must Rise’ – with a huge clenched fist, in Enghelab Square ahead of the multi-day farewell ceremonies for the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, as seen in footage on Friday.
Farewell Ceremonies Planned
The ceremonies are scheduled to begin on July 4 at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in the capital, Tehran, where mourners are expected to gather over two days to pay their respects. Iranian authorities have set up accommodation in mosques, stadiums, parks, and temporary camps.

A public funeral procession is scheduled for July 6, after which the ceremonies will move to the city of Qom on July 7. The funeral is set to conclude with Khamenei’s burial at the Imam Reza Shrine in Mashhad on July 9.
Global Leaders Attend
Official delegations and religious figures from more than 90 countries are expected to attend the ceremonies, including Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, as well as senior representatives from Russia, China, India, and Iraq.

Khamenei was killed on the first day of the US and Israeli attacks which sparked the latest Iran war. Tehran confirmed the death of the Supreme Leader and named his son, Mojtaba, as his successor.
