Harassment On Italy Train
Things turned ugly real fast on a packed Rome subway train. Two Filipino men ended up in a full-on brawl with suspected pickpockets, and the whole thing landed online.
Mervin Dayagro, 45, and Jordan Tamayo, 43, were just riding the train when two young guys started targeting them. Turns out, they already recognized each other. Both men have been living in Rome for about a year and regularly film videos pointing out local train thieves.
Escalation Inside Metro Car
The hassle didn’t even start on the train. Dayagro said the two youths were already making hostile gestures at them outside on the platform. But once everyone squeezed into the metro car, it blew up.
The suspects backed Dayagro into a corner, shoving a phone right in his face while yelling. Within seconds, talking turned into pushing, shoves turned into hits, and commuters were left watching total chaos break out.
Self-Defense And Pepper Spray
Trapped in a tight spot, the men fought back. Mid-scuffle, pepper spray went off and hit one of the attackers. The young guy immediately backed off and dropped onto a train seat, holding his eyes.
That’s when nearby passengers started screaming at him, telling everyone in the car to grab their belongings and check their wallets. Dayagro and Tamayo later made it clear that they weren’t trying to pick a fight, just trying to get out safe.
Calls For Transit Safety
The clip blew up online, getting people talking about safety and crime on European subways. Dayagro originally started recording because he kept seeing tourists getting ripped off near big historical spots.
Even after a rough fight like this, both men say they aren’t stopping. Meanwhile, local transit authorities are reminding everyone not to engage directly and to call transit police instead.
