Diplomatic Engagements

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Pakistan on Friday evening for talks, as anticipation builds ahead of a reported second round of negotiations between Iran and the United States.

Footage filmed at Nur Khan Airbase shows Araghchi’s plane taxiing on the runway, while other shots show the Iranian foreign minister descending the aircraft stairs and greeting Pakistani officials.

Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry stated that Araghchi “has arrived in Islamabad and will hold meetings with Pakistani officials to discuss developments in the region.”

Regional Coordination Tour

Earlier in the day, Araghchi wrote in a post on X: “Embarking on a timely tour of Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow. Purpose of my visits is to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments. Our neighbours are our priority.”

The tour will see discussions on developments in the region around the US-Israeli attacks on Iran, according to state media.

Ongoing Diplomatic Efforts

Earlier this month, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a two-week truce with Iran to allow for negotiations aimed at reaching an agreement to end the crisis. He later extended it to enable Tehran to provide a ‘unified proposal’, without specifying a timeframe.

The first round of direct talks between the United States and Iran was held in Islamabad on April 11 and 12, following a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire on April 8. That round ended without an agreement, as diplomatic efforts continue over a new round of negotiations.
