The Police have zero-tolerance for vandalism. Those who deliberately vandalise properties will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.” – Police advisory dated 15 March 2024
Multiple instances of anti-Palestine graffiti in Singapore
A police advisory has been issued after separate instances of anti-Palestine graffiti was spotted in the stairwell of a HDB flat in Ang Mo Kio.
Tiktok user @lovebyumm , Sarah (not their real name) filed a police report in March 2024 after she saw the acts of vandalism which contained profanities.
The first instance of defacement, photographed above, read “F***k Palestine, Hail (sic) Israel”.
Sarah shared with Wake Up Singapore that they made a report to the Town Council about it. Following the report, the scribbles were painted over with a coat of white paint.
The Second Incident
Each time the vandal’s expressions were painted over, he doubled down.
On 8 March, he repeated the two lines in a fresh act of vandalism, and scribbled more lines over the fresh coat of white paint that masked his original act.
The words he wrote read:-
“It’s kill or be f**kin killed
No room to inhale
Leave nothing for your scavenger f**ks
I am not flattered
I am honestly so f**king insulted
So fuck off”
A Google search reveals that what the vandal scribbled were the lyrics from a deathcore song titled Kill or Be Killed by SPITE. Deathcore is a niche genre that combines death metal with metalcore.
Although this correspondent did not sit through the three minutes of screams, it is not immediately apparent what the the link between the song and the vandal’s views on the Isreal-Palestine war are.
After the second incident, Sarah filed a police report.
Many comments on Sarah’s TikTok about the vandalism, which attracted more than 100,000 views, condemned the acts of vandalism and urged Sarah to inform the authorities about the brazen and persistent defacement.
Sarah shared Police came down to the site after the second act of vandalism. She also understands that another person, presumably a fellow resident of the flat, also filed a police report in respect of the acts.
More Vandalism, and Behemoth Lyrics
Evidently undeterred, the vandal continued to deface the wall and deliberately painted over the fresh coat of paint that covered his second act.
This time, as observed by TikTok user Freddy Cougar, lyrics of a song from Behemoth accompanied his two repeated lines on Israel and Palestine.
O Lion-Serpent Sun, the beast that whirlest forth
A thunder-bolt, begetter of life Thou that flowest, thou that goest Thou Satan-Sun, Hadith, that goest without will Thou air, breath, spirit, thou without bound or bond Thou essence, air swift-streaming, elasticity Thou wanderer, father of all Thou wanderer, spirit of all
Similar to SPITE, Behemoth is a death metal band.
Sarah filed a second police report.
