The comments section also turned into a mini reunion, with former guardsmen from different batches and units sharing their service years, companies, platoons, and old camp memories.

Former Guardsmen Reconnect

Several commenters identified themselves as former 3rd Guards servicemen from the 1980s.

One commenter said they served with Alpha Company between 1982 and 1984 at Kranji Camp and asked whether other members from the same period were still around.

Others shared details about their platoons and commanders, including references to Capt. Kang, CSM Encik Lim, Sgt. Chandra, and Sgt. Rashid.

The creator also responded to commenters who were trying to identify former servicemen in the video. At one point, the creator introduced himself as Sim HB.

Another commenter identified himself as being from 3rd Guards Alpha Company from 1985 to 1987, while another said he was from 3rd Guards Platoon 4, Bravo Company, during the same period.

The comments also attracted former servicemen from other Guards units, including the 1st Guards, 2nd Guards, and 7 SIB Guards Brigade.

Jokes Keep the Reunion Lively

The gathering was also filled with light-hearted moments as the former servicemen joked with one another.

At one point, the group discusses choosing a treasurer and an assistant, with members calling for volunteers.

The conversation then moves on to finding the next organizer, with the men asking who would take over the role and jokingly calling out different names.

The relaxed exchange adds to the informal atmosphere of the gathering, as the former servicemen continue to interact with one another after decades of friendship.

Comments Bring More Guardsmen Together

The reunion also became a place for former servicemen to reconnect online.

One commenter said they were from 2nd Guards Delta Company from 1986 to 1988 at the old Lim Chu Kang Camp.

Another identified themselves as being from 3rd Guards, 4th Mono intake in July 1987, and mentioned Delta Company. The creator replied that a former serviceman known as “Jake the Snake” could be seen in the video.

There were also comments from former 1st Guards servicemen, including one who served in 1990 and mentioned receiving the Best Infantry Unit award.

The creator said the group was planning to meet twice a year to catch up. He also described the friends as being together for more than 40 years.

Other commenters praised the reunion, describing the men as “old guards,” “Lao heroes,” and “band of the brothers.”

The gathering ultimately sparked a wider conversation among former servicemen, with commenters continuing to identify their old companies, camps, batches, and fellow Guardsmen.
