A Giant Summer Water Playground
Thousands of visitors descended on a Southeast Asian-style Water-Splashing Festival in Nanning, turning a theme park into a giant water playground as summer temperatures soar across China.
Footage shows crowds armed with water blasters, buckets and mist cannons drenching one another, as performers on themed floats join the mass water fight.

Visitors said the festival offered a fun escape from the summer heat and a chance to experience Southeast Asian traditions.
“I travelled here from Xuzhou. I know this is an ASEAN-themed park, so I chose to wear a Southeast Asian-style costume,” attendee Wu said.
Southeast Asian Traditions Take Centre Stage
An evening blessing ceremony featured traditional dance performances, with visitors spraying water into the air as large crowds gathered around the main stage.
“The atmosphere of the Water-Splashing Festival is incredible and unique. I have visited other Fantawild parks before, and this one has a distinct Southeast Asian charm,” tourist Xu said.

Held at Fantawild Asian Legend theme park, the festival draws inspiration from Thailand’s Songkran and other Southeast Asian water traditions, where splashing water symbolises blessings, good fortune and the washing away of bad luck.
Festival Runs Through The Summer
Alongside the mass water fights, the programme features float parades, Southeast Asian dance performances and traditional blessing ceremonies. The 2026 festival runs from July 4 to August 30.

The celebrations coincide with China’s scorching summer season, with health and weather authorities issuing heat alerts in July and warning of temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius in some areas.
