Mourinho’s Winning Return
Jose Mourinho began his second spell in charge of Real Madrid with a 1-0 win over third-tier Alcorcón in a behind-closed-doors training match on Friday.
Footage shows Mourinho overseeing preparations at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium before taking his place in the technical area. Arda Guler is also seen missing an early penalty.
Madrid finally broke through in the 81st minute, when Dani Yanez converted a penalty to secure Mourinho’s first win since returning to the club.
Pre-Season Plans Continue
Real have further pre-season fixtures scheduled before opening their La Liga campaign at home to Real Sociedad on the weekend of August 15 and 16.
The ‘Special One’ returned to Madrid on a three-year deal, 13 years after ending his first spell.
Los Blancos endured a difficult 2025-26 season, as Xabi Alonso’s reign lasted just seven months before he left by mutual consent in January, with former defender Alvaro Arbeloa stepping up from Castilla.
Mourinho’s Historic Legacy
Despite reaching the Champions League quarter-finals, Madrid finished the season without a major trophy, leading the club to turn once again to one of its most successful modern managers.
Mourinho previously managed Real from 2010 to 2013, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. His 2011-12 side claimed the league title with a then-record 100 points.
