“Michael” has now surpassed “Oppenheimer” as the highest-grossing biopic of all time.
The movie, which tells the life story of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, has now grossed USD 977 million at the global box office, besting “Oppenheimer” previously held record of USD 975 million.

“Michael” has already achieved another feat earlier, besting “Bohemian Rhapsody” as the biggest musical biopic of all time.

It also broke the record of 2015’s “Straight Outta Compton,” by making USD 97 million in the US when it opened back in April. The 2015 movie previously held the said record for a musical movie after making USD 60 million in three days.

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the movie tells the story of Michael Jackson from his time as a part of the Jackson 5 to achieving fame as the King of Pop. It stars Michael’s own real-life nephew Jaafar Jackson in the lead.
