Authorities in Mexico City were stunned to discover a Bengal tiger cub in a private home in the Xochimilco district on Wednesday.
According to official reports, the animal, just a few weeks old, was located after an emergency call alerted them to the presence of an ‘exotic species’ at the site.

Members of the Animal Surveillance Brigade and environmental personnel went to the residence, where they found the cub inside the home.
The person at the property could not prove legal possession of the specimen, a protected species in Mexico. Authorities reported that the cub showed no visible injuries and was taken to a shelter, where specialists will assess its health and determine its fate. The case is part of efforts to combat illegal possession and wildlife trafficking in the capital.
