Incident in Kelantan
A 46-year-old man allegedly attacked his seven-year-old nephew with a hammer at a shoplot in Jelawat, Kelantan, on Thursday, September 25, 2025, leaving the boy with severe head injuries.

Police were notified of the incident around 5.15 pm.
The child was immediately rushed to Hospital Pakar Universiti Sains Malaysia (HPUSM) in Kubang Kerian, where doctors reported that his condition remained critical.
Suspect Found Dead at Pantai Melawi
Shortly after the incident, the man was found dead at Pantai Melawi, approximately three kilometres from the location of the assault.
Police confirmed that his body was discovered hanging from a tree at the beach, and forensic officers later attended the scene, Berita Harian reported.

Investigations revealed that the man was unemployed and is believed to have fled the scene and taken his own life following the attack.
Drug Abuse Connection Under Investigation
Authorities also confirmed that the suspect was a drug addict.
Preliminary findings suggest he had scolded his nephew before allegedly striking him with the hammer, though the exact motive remains under investigation.

Police are examining the case under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt and Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001, according to Kosmo.
