A man in Malaysia has been arrested after a video showing a puppy being submerged in a water tank went viral online. The incident has drawn attention after the footage was widely shared on social media platforms.

Police in Shah Alam confirmed that they received a report about the video at 2.14am on April 15. The report was made by a member of the public who saw the video circulating on social media. Authorities said the footage showed a man acting aggressively towards a puppy.
Incident Caught on Video
According to police, the video showed the suspect submerging the puppy into a water tank at a construction site located in Seksyen 32. The act seemed to be violent, and there were concerns about animal cruelty.

The police immediately started investigating following the report. Based on the information gathered, police were able to identify and locate the suspect within hours. The situation was treated as a serious case due to the nature of the act shown in the video.
Suspect Detained Same Day
Police said the man was detained at around 3.40pm on the same day near the location where the incident took place. During the arrest, officers also worked with the Selangor Veterinary Services Department to secure three dogs found at the scene.
The animals were taken for further checks and care. Authorities have not released details about the condition of the puppy seen in the video.
Investigation Under Animal Welfare Laws
The case is currently being investigated under the Animal Welfare Act 2015. According to Section 29 of the Act, offenders could face a RM20,000 to RM100,000 fine or imprisonment of up to three years.

Officers also said that the matter is also being investigated under Section 428 of the Penal Code, which may result in penalties that include imprisonment, a fine, or both. Police are continuing to investigate and obtain more details regarding the act.
