Cricket is one of the world’s most popular sports, but for one Korean man living in Singapore, it was a whole new experience.

Recently, a social media creator took his first-ever cricket match with a group of Indian friends to the internet, bringing this mundane weekend to a memorable cultural exchange.
A New Sporting Experience
The creator started his day early by having a cup of iced Kopi O Kosong before going to a recreational centre in Tuas. On the way, he was introduced to a neighbourhood where many migrant workers live and gather.

When he arrived, he didn’t expect such a wide cricket field or so many skilled players already in action. Before the games started, he had breakfast with the group and spent some time talking with them.
Learning the Basics of Cricket
In the course of this visit, one of the players excitedly remarked that he resembled a popular cricketer. Whether it was true or not, he thought it was a nice compliment.

He played in a couple of games and played all sorts of positions, including batter, bowler, etc.
He was keen to get involved but was soon to find out how demanding the game is. The more experienced players were able to move around freely, with good coordination and awareness in the games.
A Friendly Experience
He had walked around the area, to the nearby shops, and had lunch with the players after the game. During downtime, they even gave him an explanation of what was happening in the field while reminding him of the rules.

It took some effort, but it helped him to know the game more than he could by watching it. Yet ultimately, he was more comfortable with the sport of cricket and noted that if he got a chance, he’d be interested in coming back.
