JD Vance Arrives In Switzerland

US Vice President JD Vance’s motorcade rolled through the streets of Burgenstock on Sunday as he arrived in Switzerland for expected peace talks with Iranian officials.

Footage shows a large US convoy, including black SUVs and police vehicles, moving towards the talks venue at the Swiss mountain resort.

Vance and his wife arrived earlier at Emmen Air Base at 05:59 GMT, according to a vice-presidential spokesperson.

Peace Talks Expected To Continue

The vice president said the discussions with Iranian officials could last for a couple of days, as Washington and Tehran attempt to advance a peace process.

Switzerland has confirmed it is hosting confidential US-Iran discussions at Burgenstock, describing the location as a discreet setting for the talks.

The talks were initially expected to take place on Saturday, but Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said they had been postponed. It emphasised, however, that it remained ready to help facilitate the discussions and that preparations in Burgenstock were continuing.

Memorandum Signed By Leaders

President Donald Trump signed the US-Iran memorandum of understanding at the Palace of Versailles on Wednesday. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed the agreement in Iran, before Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif added Pakistan’s signature in Islamabad.

Agreement Sets Out Commitments

The 14-clause memorandum calls for an immediate halt to military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon. Israel has said it is not part of the agreement and has continued attacks on southern Lebanon.

Under the agreement, Iran commits to reopening trade routes through the Strait of Hormuz free of charge for 60 days. In return, Washington commits to begin lifting the blockade on Iranian ports immediately and complete the process within 30 days.
