Chinese Company Insta360 Offers Cash Incentives to Employees to Go on Dates

A camera company, Insta360, based in Shenzhen, China, is offering cash rewards to encourage its employees to find romantic partners.

The goal is to boost employees’ happiness, sense of belonging, and overall well-being by fostering connections outside of work.

How the Program Works

The company has created an online dating platform where employees can introduce single people from outside the company. For each valid post introducing someone, employees earn 66 yuan (approximately SGD 13).

Additionally, if a match leads to a relationship that lasts three months, both the couple and the employee who made the introduction each receive 1,000 yuan (approximately SGD 208).

As reported by South China Morning Post, by mid-November 2024, nearly 500 posts had been shared on the platform, and the company had distributed almost 10,000 yuan (approximately SGD 2,080) in rewards for successful introductions.

The program not only rewards those directly involved but also encourages colleagues to help each other form romantic connections.

Aiming to Boost Employee Well-Being

The initiative is designed to improve employees’ sense of community and happiness. While no dating bonuses have been given yet (since the program started just a few months ago), staff members are excited about the potential rewards. It is reported that many employees have expressed enthusiasm for the program.

Feedback has been largely positive, with employees excited at the prospect of receiving financial rewards for helping colleagues connect with romantic partners.

Supporting a Positive Work Environment

Insta360’s approach is a creative way to support employee well-being and build a more connected workplace culture. The company believes that linking romance to workplace happiness can help strengthen the sense of community among employees.

While the idea of cash incentives for dating has received mixed reactions, Insta360’s initiative shows how companies are finding innovative ways to engage and support their employees’ personal and professional lives.
