Corporal Rico Pramudia died in a hospital in Beirut on 24 April after he was critically wounded in Southern Lebanon.

Pramudia was hit by a projectile targeting his UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) position on 29 March, sustaining critical injuries. Next to him was peacekeeper Farizal Rhomadhon, who was killed immediately by the strike.

According to UNIFIL, analysis of the impact site and recovered shrapnel confirmed that the projectile was a 120mm shell fired from an Israeli Merkava tank, launched from the east toward the town of Taybeh, in Southern Lebanon

A day later, two more Indonesian peacekeepers, Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Muhammad Nur Ichwan were killed after an improvised explosive device struck a UNIFIL logistics convoy in southern Lebanon.

They lost their lives while bravely, implementing their mandates and peacekeeping duties as part of UNIFIL, said a UN Spokesperson.

Attacks on peacekeepers are grave violations of both international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) and may amount to war crimes.

Pramudia’s death brings the total number of peacekeepers killed since the most recent war between Israel and Hezbollah in South Lebanon to 6.
