Anime Heroes Take Over Hong Kong

Cosplayers transformed the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre into a parade of anime heroes, video game characters and fantasy figures during the city’s biggest anime and gaming fair.

Footage filmed on July 28 shows enthusiasts striking poses for photographs as visitors crowd around stalls packed with trading cards, figures and limited-edition merchandise. Players also launch Beyblade tops into plastic arenas for fast-paced battles.

Cosplayers Bring Characters To Life

Cosplayer Ariel said visitors appeared more eager to interact with performers this year.
“I think everyone is more enthusiastic this year. Many people come over to ask me to take pictures and tell me how beautiful I look. Especially when I cosplayed as Glinda on the first day, many people came over and said how beautiful I was, so I was very happy,” she said.

“When you see your favourite character brought to life, it feels very different. The same applies when I dress up in my favourite look. It makes me very happy,” she continued.

Collectibles And Beyblade Battles

The five-day fair brought together anime, comics, video games, designer toys and fan-created doujin works. A new collectibles zone displayed nostalgic and rare toys alongside the latest figures and releases, while a dedicated Beyblade area hosted battles and showcased models from across the franchise’s history.

Bigger Fair Draws Thousands

This year’s event expanded into Halls 1, 3 and 5 for the first time, covering more than 38,000 square metres. The venue could accommodate up to 38,000 visitors at once, 7,000 more than in 2025.
The 27th Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong ran from July 24 to 28 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai.
