An Indonesian woman has shared a positive experience she had in Malaysia after an e-hailing driver traveled for an hour to return money she accidentally left behind in his vehicle.

The woman recounted the incident in a post on Threads. She said she had been rushing to attend her planned activities and booked an e-hailing ride to Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur. Because she was in a hurry, she did not notice that she had left an envelope containing RM300 (about SGD91) inside the car.

Money Discovered Missing

At Dataran Merdeka, the woman took photos of the popular landmark for about two hours. Afterwards, she went to a popular restaurant for lunch, and then she was ready to head to a nearby café for the rest of her day.

Only then did she realize that the envelope wasn’t there. This was very alarming, because she hadn’t noticed when the cash was gone. She wasn’t sure what to do, so she spoke to a friend who advised her to call the e-hailing driver.

The lady promptly called the driver and informed him of the circumstances. Luckily, the driver took the call and confirmed that he had found the envelope in his car.

Driver Makes Long Journey

The driver told the woman that he was in Bukit Jalil at the time of the incident. It would therefore take him a whole hour to go to Dataran Merdeka and come back with the money.

Although it was far away, he consented to travel. He handed over the envelope containing the money when he arrived. He also explained to the woman that the envelope has not been opened since he found it.

Honest Act Leaves Impression

The lady was grateful to the driver for his efforts and thanked him for bringing her back her money. She was particularly impressed by his efforts to return the money. She said she tried to give the driver some of the money back for his assistance. He, however, graciously rejected, saying that the return of the lost money was just a duty of his.

The incident had left a strong impression on the woman, and she said that she wasn’t expecting something like that to happen during her trip to Malaysia. Afterwards, she thanked him and wished him a good journey.

Social media users are very happy that nothing was lost. They praise the driver’s honesty and pray for his goodness. They also remind the passenger to be more careful of her belongings.
