Singapore’s city streets are known for buses, HDB blocks and busy commuters. But one roadside has become an unexpected gathering spot for hundreds of green parrots.
A video shared online shows the birds packed into trees beside a busy road. Buses pass by while commuters wait at a nearby bus stop. Despite the urban surroundings, the scene looks more like a wildlife reserve than the middle of a city.
Hundreds Of Parrots Gather In The Evening
According to commenters, the green parakeets can be seen gathering around the area almost every evening.
One commenter said they usually appear around 6pm. Another claimed the birds spend only around 10 to 15 minutes gathering before flying off.
The sight has left some viewers amazed and slightly concerned about how loud it must be when hundreds of birds start calling at once.
“I hope this is AI because I can’t imagine the noise they make,” one commenter wrote.
Others quickly confirmed that the scene is real.
“No, not AI. These are parakeets!” another commenter said.
Some locals say they have seen them for years.
The parrots have also sparked memories among Singaporeans who remember seeing similar gatherings in the past. One commenter recalled seeing the birds in Yishun when they were younger. They said the birds would start flying together at around 5pm every day.
Another commenter said green parakeets were not commonly seen in Singapore during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. However, their numbers have since grown significantly.
Where To Spot The Parrots
According to the creator and commenters, one reported viewing spot is around Choa Chu Kang Bus Interchange, where the parrots gather in roadside trees near the interchange and Lot One.
The birds are reportedly most noticeable in the evening, particularly around 5:30pm to 7pm.
However, another commenter pointed to Choa Chu Kang Avenue 4 near a high school. They said they used to see the birds from their flat before MRT construction began.
Whether the parrots return to their former spots remains to be seen. Their presence has certainly caught the attention of Singaporeans online.
