A Life On the Roadside
At 80 years old, Grandma Ujun from Indonesia still forces herself to walk the streets, selling packets of crackers that are not even her own. She only receives a small share from each sale, and every step is a struggle because of her deformed hands and feet.

Her story first gained wider attention after it was shared in a post by KitaFund Global on Facebook, which described how her daily effort is a fight for survival.
Small Earnings, Big Uncertainty
On days when sales go well, she might take home $2–$3. More often, she earns just a few coins, sometimes only 50 cents, and her total income for the week is rarely more than $4.

Because of this, she often goes to bed unsure if she will have food the next day.
Home is Quiet
Grandma Ujun lives alone in a rundown house at the end of a narrow lane. The walls creak, and the roof leaks when it rains. With no children or family members to care for her, she depends mostly on herself.

Sometimes, kind neighbours stop by with food or company.
Her Simple Wish
Despite her daily struggles, her wish is modest.
“I just want to eat something nice… maybe have a tiny shop at home, so I don’t need to walk far anymore,” she said.

Having a small stall near her house would mean she could earn a living without walking long distances under the hot sun.
Campaign Progress and How to Support
To help make this dream possible, a fundraising campaign was launched on KitaFund’s Asia platform.
At the time of writing, it had collected S$3,179 out of its S$9,025 target, contributed by 94 donors, with 73 days left before the campaign closes.
The campaign has been verified by the platform, ensuring that donations will go directly toward supporting Grandma Ujun’s needs.
Those who wish to contribute can do so through KitaFund Asia’s website, which provides secure payment options and an emailed receipt for each donation.
Why Every Contribution Matters
Even small contributions can make a difference for Grandma Ujun, whether by providing daily meals, repairing her fragile home, or helping her set up the tiny shop she dreams of.
Each step of support brings her closer to living with dignity and a little more comfort in her later years.
