The touching story of a dog trapped under a car in Jurong West was shared by Ashiqah Zulkifli on the Complaint Singapore Facebook page, capturing the attention and compassion of the online community. Through her post, Ashiqah highlighted not only the distressing situation but also the remarkable efforts of individuals who came together to rescue the animal.
The Incident and Rescue
The situation began at around 7:35 PM and took place at Block 684 Jurong West Street 64, Level 4 parking lot when a Muslim colleague of the original poster noticed that a dog was trapped under the tire of a car. Acting swiftly, the colleague sought help, and the police arrived at the scene. They contacted the car owner, who agreed to have the vehicle lifted. With the car successfully jacked up, the dog was freed.
However, after being rescued, the dog remained frightened and refused to eat or drink. Recognizing that further assistance was needed, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was contacted to assist with the situation. Unfortunately, the dog did not have a collar, which made it difficult to identify its owner and determine where the dog had come from.
By 8:00 PM, a man came forward claiming that he was taking care of the dog for a friend and explained that the dog had escaped from his friend’s home. The SPCA, along with others at the scene, began verifying the man’s story and took down his details to ensure the dog’s ongoing safety.
Online Reactions and Comments
The rescue also sparked a range of reactions online. Here are some of the comments from the post. Many commentators joined in to help solve the problem by suggesting that the car be jacked up to rescue the dog.
While most comments were relieved about the dog’s rescue, a user harshly replied, “Tell your Muslim colleague that she’s not worthy to be called a human being.”
Seeing this as unprovoked and unhelpful, the (OP) replied, “If you have nothing nice to say, no need to say anything. The original author had to mention “Muslim” since people will ask why the colleague can’t help. There is nothing wrong in mentioning race. I am a Muslim too. I have a few dogs myself; Even if I were in the situation, I wouldn’t know what to do. Your comment is uncalled for.”
The rescue of the dog in Jurong West ended on a positive note, thanks to the quick actions and kindness of people. This event serves as a reminder that compassion and understanding are essential both in person and online.
