Colourful Parade Through Bandung
Delegations from 26 countries took part in the two-day Asia Africa Festival 2026 in Bandung on Saturday, as the capital of Indonesia’s West Java province celebrated cultural diversity and international cooperation inspired by the historic Asian African Conference, also known as Bandung Conference.
Footage shows colourful troupes marching and floats parading through the streets of Bandung, with performers carrying flags bearing the names of participating countries, and cultural groups from Fiji and Rwanda performing for spectators.
Festival Celebrates Cultural Diversity
The festival began with a cultural carnival along Jalan Asia Afrika in Bandung, featuring a vibrant parade of delegations from Asian and African countries, representatives from Bandung’s sister cities, international students, participants from various regions across Indonesia, and dozens of cultural and arts communities.
“This is a truly wonderful event,” spectator Taufik said. “Every year, I see something new being showcased, whether from local communities, across Indonesia, or from delegations representing countries in Asia and Africa.”
Unity Through Shared Heritage
The parade made its way from the historic Gedung Merdeka along Jalan Asia Afrika to Jalan Cikapundung Barat, symbolising the spirit of friendship,
diversity and collaboration at the heart of the 2026 Asia Africa Festival held under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity, Rising in Harmony’.
