One gym-goer asked whether people who shower at CBD gyms after work also shower again once they get home. The question came from noticing two different habits at the gym: some people shower before leaving, while others simply wipe themselves down and head home.

The poster shared that they usually skip the gym shower unless meeting someone afterward. Since Singapore’s heat often means sweating again almost immediately, they preferred using a wet towel before putting their work clothes back on for the journey home.
The question quickly split opinions, with many sharing their own routines.
Many still shower again after reaching home
A large group said showering at the gym does not replace showering at home.
For many, the commute home is enough reason to shower again before bed. Several commenters said they have an “outside versus inside” rule, where anyone returning from outside must shower before sitting on the sofa, lying on the bed, or touching other clean surfaces.

Some even joked that guests should be “hosed down” before entering the house, while others said they clean chairs or use removable sofa covers after visitors leave.
Others said they simply prefer feeling clean before sleeping, regardless of whether they had already showered earlier.
Others skip the gym shower completely
Some commenters take the opposite approach.
Rather than showering twice, they wait until they get home. A few said they intentionally use gyms near their homes so they can finish their workout, walk home, and shower once.
Others argued that showering at the gym only to sweat again during the commute feels unnecessary, especially when changing back into work clothes.

At the same time, several people felt that anyone taking public transport after an intense workout should shower before leaving the gym out of consideration for other commuters.
Some prioritise staying fresh during the commute, while others care more about feeling clean once they get home.
