The span for the first-ever road link between Russia and the DPRK was seen completed on Tuesday, crossing over the Tumeт River between the countries.
Footage shows the flags of both states flying, alongside heavy machinery operating on site. Viktor Timonov, the chief engineer, is also seen briefing officials on the progress of the works.
The bridge crossing is approximately five kilometres long and will eventually carry two lanes of traffic.
“The construction required more than 5,000 tonnes of steel structures and over 9,000 cubic metres of concrete, ensuring compliance with the strictest safety standards,” the Russian Transport Ministry stated.
A Khasan road border checkpoint will also be installed, with 10 lanes, capable of handling around 300 vehicles and up to 2,850 people per day, with capacity for further expansion.
The project was agreed in 2024 by Russian President Vladimir Putin and DPRK leader Kim Jong-un. Construction officially began on April 30, 2025.
