Its only just the start of 2023 but some of us just cant get our engines re-started in the first week of work in the new year. So why not put work aside for a little while as you enjoy the weekend at some of these beaches in Singapore for some rest and relaxation.
Sembawang Beach
Sembawang Beach overlooks Malaysia and is among the few natural beaches left on our island home. Although it is just 15 hectares in size, it is rich with history along with nearby points of interest like the Sembawang Memorial and Kampong Wak Hassan, makes it worthwhile to visit. If you have children, the battleship playground offers a plethora of entertaining elements including a large circular swing that would make a great day out. For the adults, try your hand at fishing or organize a BBQ with your friends and family.
Pasir Ris Beach
One of the larger parks in Singapore, Pasir Ris Park plays host to a mangrove forest that can be explored through boardwalks and a gallop stable where kids can go pony riding. For the adventurous, visit the three-story bird-watching tower for a breathtaking view at sunset or just enjoy cycling through nature as you feel the wind on your face. Water sports are also available here where you can try your hands at kayaking or stand up paddling.
Changi Beach Park
This lovely stretch of beautiful white sand is studded with thick casuarina trees and other vegetation. Start a nice hike from Changi Point and make your way towards Changi Ferry Terminal via the boardwalk for a scenic trail for a different pace as compared to the hustle and bustle of work and citylife. If you are feeling up to it, go a little further away from the main island by taking a ferry to Pulau Ubin from Changi Jetty!
East Coast Beach
The East Coast beach has a 15-kilometer coastline that is ideal for early morning yoga lessons, evening jogs, or a simple period of peaceful reflection. If you feel like getting an adrenaline fix, you can head on over to Xtreme Skatepark which has three distinct sections and obstacles for kids and adults to practise kickflips and ollies.
We live in a country that is packed with high rises and skyscrapers, this makes it all the more important to keep in touch with nature. Take a break and re-start your engines by visiting one of these beaches for a short getaway!
