For most Singaporeans, one of the well known Filipino food options you may know of is Jolibee but here in our sunny island, there are plenty of delicious food that you have yet to discover. Have a taste of true Filipino food at these restaurants:
Don Lechon
Lechon, which is similar to Chinese roasted suckling pig, is one of the Philippines’ most popular dishes. Get your fix at Don Lechon, a small shop in Katong that serves a killer variety of lechon rice dishes.When you visit, make sure you request for an additional serving of their vinegar-soy dipping sauce that goes superbly well with the delicious pork. Great for sharing, order the Lechon Sinigang for a spicy, thick broth with heaps of chopped lechon, white radish, long beans, kangkong, and eggplant.

Kuya’s Kusinang Pinoy
Located in Bugis with a shopfront just acrossthe National Library, Kuya’s Kusinang Pinoy offers dishes like the Bulalo Special, a collagen-rich broth with buttery bone marrow. The Sizzling Pork Sisig is our go to with a crackling snout-to-tail pork mix sprinkled with lime juice and chilli flakes which is best paired with their Mais con Hielo (corn based dessert) for a sweet finish.

El Mesa
If you are in Clarke Quay, why not pair some Filipino food with some beer on the side? Enjoy El Mesa’s popular Chicken Inasal which consists of a delicious BBQ marinated chicken with sweet papaya salad. For something more heart warming, opt for their Oxtail Kare-Kare which is a dish drenched in a thick peanut sauce that pairs well with a pint of San Miguel to wash it all down.

Tucked away in the corner of Novena, LeChon Republic Singapore has been dishing about the ever popular Filipino meat to its customers. Go for their Chopped Lechon With Rice or opt for their Lechon Sinigang for a stew version of the beloved meat that is brimming with vegetables. For a indulgent treat, we would recommend the Lechon Sisig With Rice that sees minced lechon being stir-fried with a variety of spices and sauces that elevates the sinful dish to the next level.
