India-Russia Economic Ties Grow
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar praised economic co-operation with Moscow, saying it had ‘grown very significantly’, during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday.
“I think our economic co-operation, trade, energy, fertilisers, nuclear, other dimensions as well. I’d be pleased to speak about it in detail, but overall, I think, our economic co-operation has grown very significantly,” he said.
Meanwhile, Putin stressed that the partnership between the two countries continued “in almost all areas, including the government level and inter-parliamentary relations, and in the field of economic activity”.
Putin Highlights Trade Growth
“I would like to note that this year our trade turnover has increased. It decreased a little last year, but it will increase this year.
This is mainly due to the merit of the prime minister [Narendra Modi], who contributes to the development of Russian-Indian relations,” the president added.
Jaishankar Visits Moscow
The Indian foreign minister arrived in Russia on August 23 for a two-day visit. On Monday, Jaishankar took part in the 27th meeting of the Russian-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Co-operation. He is also scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
