An Uzbek student living in Singapore has shown viewers his apartment setup, including his bedroom, study area, and the greenery outside his window.
The student shared the video as “day one” of living alone in Singapore and said he lives in Bukit Gombak, which he described as a convenient location because it is not far from his university.
A Small Space In Bukit Gombak
In the video, the student showed the building where he lives, saying it has 12 floors and that his unit is on the eighth floor.
Inside, he showed his personal space, including his bed, study and work area, shelf, books, MacBook, and other belongings.
He said the space was not very large but that he had managed to fit what he needed. The room also has air conditioning and two fans, which he said were useful because Singapore is hot.
The student said he wanted to make the space feel more personal and asked viewers for decoration ideas.
One feature he particularly liked was the view from his window. He showed greenery surrounding the area and said he did not expect to wake up to so much greenery when he first moved to Singapore.
He also pointed out that the MRT passes through the area. According to the student, he enjoys watching the trains go past from his window.
Viewers Question The Rental Arrangement
The discussion became more focused on the rental cost after the student revealed that the accommodation costs S$1,500 in total.
He explained that three students would share the accommodation, bringing the cost to S$500 per person.
Some viewers initially got the wrong idea from the video and thought S$1,500 was being paid for one shared room. Others questioned whether S$500 per person was actually expensive when three people were splitting the room.
One commenter said S$500 per person was pretty reasonable, especially since the accommodation was near an MRT station. Another said shared rooms in Singapore can commonly go for around S$400 per person.
Others compared the price with different rental options, pointing out that costs can vary quite a bit depending on the location, availability, and type of accommodation.
The student later clarified in the comments that he was renting the room rather than the entire apartment. He also said that he was from Uzbekistan.
Another commenter, who identified themselves as working in real estate, said the arrangement was not necessarily a scam and pointed to Singapore’s high rental costs.
Questions Over Privacy and Shared Facilities
The video also prompted viewers to question whether showing the location of his home online could create privacy or safety concerns.
Some commenters asked why he was showing where he lived, while others said that the information shown in the video was not necessarily enough to create a serious problem.
There were also questions about access to the rest of the apartment, including the toilet, living room, and kitchen.
One commenter said access to shared areas could depend on the homeowner and rental arrangement, while another pointed out that the rent could already cover extras like electricity, water, and Wi-Fi.
The discussion eventually boiled down to whether the shared-room setup was actually worth the price, with viewers making their own comparisons based on what they know about Singapore’s rental market.
