A Malaysian wedding guest has sparked a discussion online after expressing disappointment over a simple door gift received at a friend’s hotel wedding.
The guest posted a picture of the gift on Threads, which featured a pink paper bag along with what seemed like wrapped bread and a beverage. Her post was soon seen and many social media users posted their views on the wedding souvenir option.
The incident happened after the guest attended a wedding ceremony held at a hotel, where she appeared to have expected a more elaborate gift from the couple.
Guest Questions Wedding Gift
In the Threads post, user @adira_azmat uploaded a picture of the door gift and questioned whether the items were suitable for a hotel wedding.
“Went to my friend’s wedding. The ceremony was held at a hotel, but is this really the door gift? Bread and a drink?” she wrote.
She also suggested that the couple could have prepared something “a little more grand” for guests. The guest compared the gift with items usually given at weddings that were perceived to be less expensive.
Her post quickly spread across social media, attracting more than 824,000 views at the time of the screenshot. Many users joined the conversation and shared different reactions to the situation.

Others said that items like bread and beverages are useful gifts for attendees to eat or drink after the event. Others also said that a hotel wedding has numerous costs involved, such as venue charges and other factors.
Some users, however, explained that they knew why the guest was shocked, as hotel weddings are more formal and expensive.
