Fuel up on flavour

A viral ‘beer fuelling station’ in the eastern Chinese city of Qingdao is drawing locals and tourists with a novel twist on filling up.

Located in Shandong’s historic Dabaodao cultural district, the pub has transformed traditional fuel pumps into draught beer dispensers.

Footage shows customers using fuel nozzles to pour fresh, ice-cold Tsingtao craft beer into plastic cups and jugs.

A fun pit stop

Tourist Li Xuefei said the unusual set-up was worth trying. “This beer gas station is incredibly innovative and definitely worth the experience.”

“The process is simple. After scanning a code, I received a cup from the staff. Then, following their instructions, I held the nozzle just like I was fuelling a car. It was easy and a lot of fun.”

A station like no other

Digital screens track each order as the beer flows, adding to the feel of a real roadside filling station.

Complete with illuminated signs, pumps and fuel-style displays, the attraction gives refuelling a new meaning in one of China’s best-known beer cities.
