For years, anonymous accounts on X have reposted photos and videos of girls without permission, often sexualizing them, impersonating them, or using AI-generated edits to attract engagement.
Many victims say the problem has existed for a long time, yet it continues to receive little public attention.
A long-running problem affecting girls online
A recent video has renewed discussion about the issue by highlighting how some X accounts repost photos and videos of girls, including minors, without knowledge or consent.
Posts are often paired with sexualized captions, used to attract followers, or created to impersonate the people featured.

According to the creator, many victims only discover the posts after being contacted by strangers. In some cases, images and videos are edited into AI-generated explicit content, leaving lasting emotional and psychological effects.
The video encourages viewers not to engage with these accounts. Instead, viewers are encouraged to report the accounts and, where possible, inform the person whose content has been reposted.
Victims say the issue has persisted for years
Comments on the video suggest the experience is far from isolated. Several people shared experiences of being reposted by similar accounts. Some described repeatedly reporting accounts only to see new ones appear after earlier accounts were removed.

One commenter described receiving messages from strangers after personal images appeared on these pages and called the experience frightening. Another said AI-generated explicit content had been created using personal videos and added that a report was rejected for having “no violations.”

Many comments described the issue as a long-running problem and welcomed more public discussion about behaviour that often goes unnoticed.
Calls for awareness instead of engagement
A common message throughout the discussion was to avoid interacting with these accounts because engagement can increase visibility.
Instead, comments encouraged reporting the posts, informing affected individuals, and continuing to raise awareness about non-consensual sexualization online.
