Qatar’s Former Emir Sheikh Hamad Receives State Funeral
Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani joined thousands of worshippers on Sunday evening for the funeral prayer of his father, former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

Footage showed Sheikh Tamim and members of the ruling family carrying Sheikh Hamad’s body into Doha’s Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque, where a large crowd gathered for the prayer.
Sheikh Hamad was later buried at Lusail Cemetery, according to the Amiri Diwan.
Former Leader Dies At 74
Sheikh Hamad ruled Qatar from 1995 until 2013, before handing power to his son, Sheikh Tamim.
The Amiri Diwan announced Sheikh Hamad’s death on Sunday morning at the age of 74 and declared four days of national mourning across Qatar.

During his leadership, Sheikh Hamad oversaw major changes in Qatar’s development and helped shape the country’s role in the region.
Regional Mourning Declared
Several Middle Eastern countries also announced mourning periods following Sheikh Hamad’s death.
The United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Lebanon declared periods of mourning, with flags set to be lowered to half-mast for four days.
The funeral ceremony brought together Qatar’s leadership, royal family members, and thousands of citizens to pay their final respects to the former emir.
