A group of NUS students have moved from Singapore to Silicon Valley through the NUS Overseas Colleges Programme (NOC). The programme places students in global startup environments while they study and intern abroad for one year.

One participant from the programme is currently in the Bay Area for this experience. He is a second-year computer science student at the National University of Singapore.
The Programme Experience
The NOC Programme focuses on entrepreneurship and startup exposure. Students are sent to different global tech hubs, where they work with startups and also attend classes at partner universities.

In this case, the student is in Silicon Valley doing an internship at a startup while also taking classes at Stanford. That is part of the NOC programme, which combines work experience with academic learning in a startup environment.
The programme only lasts 12 months. After that, students are required to return to Singapore.
Building a Startup in Silicon Valley
The student and his housemates started building something of their own while they were still there. They are working on a startup alongside their internship and studies. They are working on it from their living space while continuing their studies and internships.
Their goal is to develop something sustainable enough to continue beyond the programme’s timeline. There is a time pressure because they only have a year in Silicon Valley.

They share their progress as they build, updating along the way instead of waiting until everything is finished. It is a “building in public” approach, where the process is visible step by step.
Many people in the comments say they are looking forward to future updates and want to see how the startup develops over time.
