A Heartbreaking Farewell Before A New Beginning

A 26-year-old Malaysian mother made the painful decision to leave her seven-year-old son at a children’s welfare home in Perak before travelling to Singapore for work.

The single mother, identified as Kong Xiuping (transliteration), hopes the move will allow her to provide a more secure future for her son despite the emotional cost of their separation.

The boy, Kong Peiming (transliteration), has since been placed under the care of Jaz Home (Anson Jaz Home) in Teluk Intan, where he will continue his education and receive support.

Son’s Simple Gesture Brings Mother To Tears

According to Chinese-language media reports, an emotional scene unfolded shortly before mother and son left their home in Sekinchan, Selangor.

In the quiet moments before their departure, Peiming reportedly poured a glass of water and gently handed it to his mother, telling her to have a drink.

The small act of kindness overwhelmed Xiuping, who had been struggling to contain her emotions.

As tears streamed down her face, she embraced her son tightly. The pair held each other for a long time, aware that they did not know when they would next be reunited.

Before saying goodbye, Xiuping repeatedly reminded her son to focus on his studies, listen to those caring for him, and behave well.

Years Of Financial Hardship Led To Difficult Decision

Xiuping gave birth to Peiming when she was 18 years old.

After the breakdown of her first marriage, she faced financial difficulties while raising him. For much of his childhood, the boy was cared for by his aunt, who stepped in to help support the family.

However, rising living costs eventually made it difficult for the aunt to continue providing long-term care.

Xiuping later remarried and had two more children, but that marriage is also reportedly ending, leaving her facing further financial strain.

With limited options available, she decided to seek employment in Singapore in hopes of improving her family’s circumstances.

Children’s Home Steps In To Support The Boy

Representatives from Jaz Home travelled from Teluk Intan to Sekinchan to accompany Peiming to the welfare home after assessing the family’s situation.

The organisation said it hopes to provide the child with a stable, safe environment where he can continue learning and growing.

“We cannot change his past, but we can nurture his future together,” representatives reportedly said.

The home also plans to assist with his school transfer so he can continue his education in Teluk Intan.

Public Moved By Story As Boy Settles Into New Environment

The story has resonated with many online, with social media users expressing sympathy for both mother and son.

In a subsequent update, Jaz Home shared footage of Peiming playing basketball with other children.

The organisation said the seven-year-old appeared more cheerful as he spent time with new friends, adding that simple moments of play and encouragement can help children regain their smiles after difficult experiences.

For Xiuping, the separation represents a sacrifice made in the hope that one day her son will have opportunities she was unable to provide on her own.
