Rotterdam Turns Orange For World Cup
Thousands of football fans dressed in orange gathered across central Rotterdam on Sunday to watch the Netherlands’ opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which ended in a dramatic 2–2 draw against Japan in Arlington.

Footage shows supporters watching the match on big screens at public venues, cheering and celebrating as the Netherlands scored.
The Oranje struck early in the second half through Virgil van Dijk, before Keito Nakamura equalised for Japan.
Late Drama Ends In Draw
Crysencio Summerville restored the Dutch lead, but Daichi Kamada’s late goal in the 89th minute secured a 2–2 draw.

Japan and the Netherlands sit second and third in Group F after the opening match, with Sweden and Tunisia set to face each other later on Sunday. The Netherlands will play Sweden in Houston, while Japan face Tunisia in Monterrey on June 20.
